(Programme for Activision) Call of Duty: Vanguard hasn’t impressed so far, and has now got into a tense controversy about the use of Qurans. The Quran, the holy text of Islam and regarded by many Muslims as the literal word of the God, is considered by many Muslims as an insult, and thus, disrespecting it is also considered as an insult. In Vanguard’s Zombies mode, while the player was going through Stalingrad, pages of the Quran are scattered in the floor and stained with blood in some cases. The issue seems to have been noticed by Twitter user BKTO0R, who shared several images of the map with his Arab comments. The word “Bonders” is written to “Likes, I see the figures of the Quran on the ground in a zombie map. If it’s correct, I think it needs to be removed as soon as possible.” See more Folks were swiftly condemning Activision-Blizzard and the game’s developers, and it seems that a blunder that could have been easily avoided was a mistake. Activision-Blizzard responded well and apologised for the error. The Muslim community had distorted content last week and was removed from the game since then. You never should have appeared as expected in-game. We apologised deeply. We are taking immediate steps internally to resolve the situation and prevent such unforeseen events. On average, the statement didn’t sound like a main English-speaking account of Call of Duty. pic.twitter.com/bgXV178fPgNovember 11, 2021 See more
