On Saturday the company quietly published the Google Play Store ‘Utilities’ app. It can detect rogue AirTags and other tracking devices compatible with Apples Find My network and have been separated from their original owners. (SkiPool/Google Play) The app tries to stop a use of AirTags. As recently emerged, criminals and stalkers used AirTags as a low-cost way to track and stop terrorism. The customers with an iPhone may automatically receive a phone call even when an AirTag is hidden within the vicinity of its owner. Nevertheless, consumers who have Android phones are left in the dark. The rogue AirTag will start to take hold only in eight to eight hours once it is no longer with the original owner, and giving a bad actor plenty of time to misuse the device for tracking. Apple said in June that it’d release a separate anti-stalking safeguard for Android users. The tracker detection app is free for Android users. If you think someone uses AirTag or a device to track your location, you can scan to find it, wrote the company. The scanning works with Android’s mobile phone, and can take a range around 30 feet. Google Play/Apple. The mobile app has a key limitation: it is impossible to scan the app 24-7. Instead, it’s a responsibility for the user to manually use the scanning software. The app will take a few minutes to view your surroundings as it happens to the rogue AirTags. If a problem is detected, you may use the app to order the intrusive AirTag to emit the sound of the noise and give it a proper sense of location. In Apple’s support document, the noise triggered just isn’t allowed to happen if the app detects a common item tracker or an airspace for at least 10 minutes near you. The app provides an instruction guide in how to remove the battery from the AirTag, closing it. You can also check the serial number of the AirTag app. The airtag message will appear with information about how to contact the owner if it was identified to be lost. But if you feel your safety is compromised, Apple’s tracking Detect app will advise you that you call the law enforcement.
