Using Bleeping Computer for a purpose, Dell customer forums and Reddit threads fill up with complaints from owners of Lattitude 5320 and 5520 laptops (BIOS version 1.14.3), Inspiron 5680 desktops (BIOS version 2.8.0), and the Aurora R8 desktop series (BIOS version 1.0.18). When users update their systems, they report that they will boot to the blue screen and then shut down again. Some others get Time-of-Day is not set error, followed by a shutdown without input. A few users reported success by improving their BIOS to the previous version. But a hard process is that it’s beyond the comfort zone of the typical laptop or desktop buyer, and that can’t work for anyone. This process also requires an emergency for the internal batteries to be pulled off and a power button sequenced on the Lattitude laptops. We’ve been contacting Dell representatives and are waiting for a reply on these matters.
