Sony released trailers for both the covers and controllers. The console cover trailers show five shades of white, black, red, pink, purple and green. The black and red variants are coming in January 2022 in participating stores. These pink, purple, and blue shoes will be in the first half of 2022 at those same stores. There are still covers for users who own either the PS5 digital edition or the one with the disc drive. While there were already official Black and Red DualSense controllers, Sony is releasing Niova Pink, Starlight Blue and Galactic Purple consoles to suit the new faceplates. These must start at January 2022, but, given Sony’s wording, each color will likely have some kind of staggered release. According to Sony, the exact dates of this new gear might vary, too. However, in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and France, those who buy directly from Sony will get certain items a little more quickly. The Galactic Purple controller will be the site on January 14th and then retailers on February 11. The black and red PS5 covers will be on the site on Jan 21st and will be available at participating retailers on February 18st. Sony expected to sell its own faces, especially after the company went after others trying to do the same thing. Dbrand initially sold some PS5 faceplates, but decided to pull the product after Sony threatened to sue, which was something Dbrand was doing to sue. CustomizeMyPlates ran into the same thing that was occurred as the PS5 launch and it had to cancel the orders for custom faceplates that it had received.
