(Image credit: Discord) Discord has updated its plans for NFT and cryptocurrency integration, according to its CEO and CEO Jason Citron. “Thanks to everybody for your views.” “I don’t have any plans to ship this concept in the future. We’re focused on protecting users against spam, fraud and fraud. Web3 has lots of good but also very little problems, and we need to help but improve at scale. Something new will be coming.” An old study that informs Discord users of the use of NFTs quickly emerged online. After this was followed by a selfie of Citron showing an unreleased integration for two different cryptocurrency wallet apps. According to an official statement posted on TechCrunch, these features were part of the regular businesswide “hack week,” and weren’t active. Neither the survey nor the screen were received very well. Discord’s subreddit littered the pages with pleas for removal of the plans, and many people across social media urged users to cancel their Discord Nitro subscriptions. “We have a lot of fun with the potential for Web3 technologies and positive ways that these communities come together on Discord, especially those organized in pursuit of sustainability and creator-focused projects,” said Discord’s CEO. “Despite that, we are aware that we have various problems to study.” Many new Discord employees took over Twitter to express their frustration following the tweets of Citron. It showed that the company wasn’t supporting Bitcoin integration from all the employees. “I hope that leaders can listen to the chorus of moral discontent this teaser has already invited” a colleague wrote. “This isn’t about to happen, too.” I hope leaders can listen to the chorus of unhappiness that teaser has already invited. This sincerely doesn’t have to happen. https://t.co.sma/fxntfnas8v2npVs November 9, 2021 See more If discord annoys me for this, I hope, first will be fired because of their caller’s angry, in 2021 in twitter November 8, 2021. See more Although Discord isn’t yet going to implement the wallet integration, there still is an actual chance that NFTs and crypto will reach the service at some point in the future. It’s unclear exactly what the tipping point was that it made the u-turn, although it’s unlikely that Nitro boycott and backlash from its own staff went unnoticed. Play giants like Ubisoft, EA, Zynga, and Square Enix have recently begun to speak about their approach to NFT and blockchain games. The reaction to the news had been controversial given the large amount of uncertainty in the space. Last month, the Squid game based on Netflix ended with their creators faking out of 3,3 million dollars.
