A potential Dragonlance trilogy broke last year when Hickman and Weis sued Wizards of the Coast over an alleged breach of contract if Wizards didn’t move forward with the trilogy. The lawsuit was settled in December of the year 2020, and both parties confirmed the trilogy was back in existence. Dragonlance was released as a shared universe in 1984, with the help of a series of popular novel by Hickman and Weis as well as a series of gaming modules for Dragons. The main books of the franchise were born after the War of the Lance, a heroic fight between two men of the Dark Dragon goddess Takhisis. While Dragonlance was mostly diluted into D&D material, Wizards of the Coast published Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons this year that featured a Dragonlance character in the title, but also many Dragonlance monsters. The official description of Dragonlance: Creativity and rebellion are so pronounced: Destina Rosethornas’ name implies that she is a preferred child of fate. But as her father dies in the Lancet War, she watches her highly crafted world become more complex. Not only does she lose her beloved father, it also inherits the legacy of her own family lands and castles. Her father is saved by a bold planto and goes back in time to prevent his death. First, she must secure the Device of Time Traveling, last known to be in the possession of the spirited Tasslehoff Burrfoot. If she wants to change time, she need an amazing artifacts, the greatest of all she has ever created. Destina’s quest takes her from the war-torn kingdom of Thorbardin to the town of Solace and beyond. She has to change that chain of disastrous events that threaten to give the course of the River of Time, transform the past and change the future forever.
