According to the driver, their Teslas software hit the brakes unexpectedly, causing the 8-car pileup, with nine patients ill and one was hospitalized. Four ambulances were rushed at the scene. The ‘Model S’ is a Tesla, and it’s reportedly traveling at roughly 55mph (88.5 km/h) before making a sudden and uninvited lane change and braking the vehicle, causing the vehicle to fail to speed to 20 mph (32 km/h). Due to the sudden braking, the cars behind the Tesla came and drove the accident. California Highway Patrol said in the Dec. 7 report that it could not confirm whether full self-driving was active at the time of the crash. A road patrol spokesperson told CNN Business on Wednesday that it’s not clear if full self-driving is active, and Tesla will also have information, wrote CNN.
