The Worlds championship was returned to LPL with the move, which could have been the beginning of a new era of Korea’s dominance. EDG hardly ever made the impression that they were going to win everything despite being among the favorites. The team stepped up in the final. After winning against RNG in the quarterfinal, EDG broke World’s curse. They didn’t have anything to lose, as all they had was a satisfying result. Not only did EDG break its own record, but they became only the second team to win a worlds championship and a Mid-Season Invitational tournament. This trophy is a lot more impressive given the fact that DKs run Worlds. After a perfect group stage of 6-0, DK easily defeated DK’s first seed MAD Lions in the quarterfinals. The fifth of the tournament’s fans saw the best of the year to choose from after a five-game series. Many thought that the Korean war would be the peak of this years Worlds Well, they were wrong. All fans expected a 3-0 series by DK, perhaps dropping one of the games in between. Most fans predicted DK in the LoL PickEm. The reality turned around the other way around.

Game 1
EDG unexpectedly guided the first game of the series. Both teams decided to focus on comfort: The EDGs Jiejie and Scout got their Jarvan IV and Ryze, while ShowMaker got their Leblanc. DK was confident that they would win the early game through ShowMaker, but EDG got away from the aggressive and fought against the defeat. Game 2
DK knew that Graves would be prioritized so they decided the blue side again. The two teams exchanged their drafts from Game 1 making some adjustments ahead of that. Flandre picked up Irelia so that it pushed the canyons Qiyana out of the jungle. Malzahar was the decisive for this series, but it was the same as this one. ShowMaker responded to Leblanc and warned the plight of the people of the city. His ultimate blocked either Leblanc or Irelia, who need to leave in constant war, and shut them up to 0. While Jiejie threw a baron stasting, it became a very unsided game for DK, who win with 13k gold.
Game 3
Game 3 probably is the closest series. Having a little better in the early game, EDG was able to win by using Twisted Fate, Xin Zhao and Jayce in their early games. With a clear mind, DK made a huge mistake in the draft. They don’t just left her free to the wildlights. Not only did she leave Open Canyons signature jungler Lee Sin, but also let ShowMaker pick Sylas with Twisted Fate on. The famous jungle-mid duo turned around the game with their insane team fighting abilities. While the EDG was busy watching Lee Sins movements, Sylas found an open source to flank the enemies and invite and meet with the EDG members to open up their head with the ultimate Xin Zhao Knockback. The LPL team had no tool to burst Sylas down and were in the latter stages of the game.
Game 4
The two teams took Game 4 very slowly from the point where DK reached match point. Both were extremely cautious, with only five kills in the first 22 minutes on the board. The pace fell a lot in the first three games. Nevertheless, EDG gave up 3-0 with dragons, and took the graves back home, on top of the lane with his scaling. It was the perfect fight for the Dragon Soul to prove to everybody why Jiejie is a world-class player: after stealing the Baron in Game 2, he claimed the crucial Mountain Soul for his team with Viegos Ultimate. Though it was true that DK was in control over the dragon, but it didn’t keep it safe and gave the win to the EDG. He was high in the competition when he entered Game 5.
Game 5
EDG understood the importance of the Canyons team and forced all his champion pool to a tough point in the 5th game. The Korean jungler was forced to pick Trundle that proved underwhelming in the latter stages. In spite of the duplication of a two-man baron by DK, EDG could regain the dragon soul. The two second Baron Nashor to close the game and become World Cup Champions 2021. This is the third time China has opened the Summoners Cup in four years. Is this still the era of dominance by China? Has Korea finally come back to bed? Time is over but one thing is sure: the EDG deserved it to win it.
