A statistic so clearly illustrates that the majority of teenagers who say they use Facebook have been crattered over the last 10 years. In 2012, 94 % of millennials said they had used the platform. And now, in 2021, this number has fallen to just 27% of Gen Z teen numbers. What happened, really? There are more than 100+ data breaches, fake news, privacy controversies, mental health issues, and a lack of interest towards Facebook to solve their problems. That has caused many young people to pass the platform’s platform. In a recent survey of 10,000 young Americans conducted by the Financial Services Corporation, 35 percent said Snapchat was their favorite social app; another 30 percent preferred TikTok; and 22 percent found Instagram their favorite app. Only two-two percent of respondents indicated they liked Facebook and Twitter. Among those 18-24 years old, another study, conducted by Statista, also found that Instagram is more popular than Facebook. Even though Facebook is a better age group, only 66 percent of youth in the population prefer Facebook and 71 percent in the community prefer Facebook. Facebook can certainly be an example of the ever increasing user base, but you can’t count young people in that group. Mark Zuckerberg wants to get back to basics, but after years of abandoning the most important age group, he decided to ask what Facebook will offer a teenager at this point.
