After the departure of Far Crys creative director, it was claimed that next game will become a service title. Only last month, it was assumed that Far Cry 7 (or whatever the next game is called) would be a more online-oriented experience. Since Ubisoft has already confirmed plans to release a live service Assassins Creed game, it’s easy to believe the next Far Cry will follow suit. According to GamesBeats Jeff Grubb, that’s exactly what happened. There are no new details beyond that, but Grubb says the next Far Cry would share a similar business model to Assassins Creed Infinity. Many might be disappointed, but since Ubisoft has admitted that it intends to focus on free-to-play gaming, its hardly surprising. It comes after news emerged that Dan Hay, director and executive producer of Far Cry series, is leaving Ubisoft this week. In a statement released by GamesBeat, Ubisoft says After more than 10 years in business, Dan Hay announced he would pursue a new chapter and he’d leave on November 12. Although Dan hasn’t announced where his path is leading him, we’re confident that it will offer him new challenges and experiences, he needs and needs. We thank Dan for his valuable contributions over the years and wish him all the best for the future. The brand team is being led by Sandra Warren in Montreal and a highly talented team of producers and directors, and continue to collaborate with a number of other studios in the world. Hays has not yet quit Ubisoft despite having gone by the name of big-name employees. In the past year alone, director Eric Baptizat, writer Darby McDevitt and art director Raphael Lacoste stepped up to join the other studios. Far Cry 6 received more mixed reviews than usual as a mainline entry, but in the end no suggestion that the plans for the next game have been drastically changed. It’s been a while since we wrote an open letter and decided to fulfill our four key demands. Nobody complied with any of our demands.
