GATOR KEYS Even when a game is developed for development, a much longer time than that is true of data, but most dataminers find traces of it in game files. As you would expect, there is plenty of content inGTA: Vice Cityas well. For example, there are unused audio files for a conversation with Tommy Vercetti and Avery Carrington about an area called Gator Keys. Interestingly, that area isn’t in the final game, suggesting it got shelved during the development. MAP CHANGES As long as the map is finished, there are many other changes made to the map inVice Citybeyond the removal of the Gator Keys. Fort Baxter Air Base, for instance, was originally going to be an air traffic control tower, while many roads in the final game didn’t exist. The lighthouse in Ocean Beach and the Hyman Memorial Stadium were also not included in the plan and later, were added in. MOFFAT In the context of the game, when it comes to the cut content, it is just part of the game that needed to be cut out. Some characters and stories that they were attached to have to be erased, have now been identified, not only in the games but also in a whole bunch of movies. One of them was a man named Moffat, who, some years in the past, went frightened by Tommy in a prison, and was later on the run. I’m chatting with Tommy in the game. Since it was the whole character from Moffat and his story wasn’t in the game. AUTOCIDE Autocide is a mission that many Cityfans are likely to remember. For those who don’t work it forces players to eliminate rival members of the gang. If you’re not happy with every target, the names of each target are references to many original GWA franchises at the time, likeDriversTanner, Fale Crime: Streets of NNN, (and also of the street named Nick Kong), and of course Hammond, Carter, and Dilson nadding withThe GetawaysHammond, Carter and Jolson. CLAUDE The genital legend was nominated by the legendary Xenon, who had won several awards at its inauguration on the day of his first visit to San Andreas, but despite not having an names, the player still found an opportunity to pay tribute to him. He didn’t appear himself, right? Surely this is the reason whyVice Cityis was fifteen years beforeGTA 3? ; but a poster featuring Claude is in the hotel’s original room. LICENSE PLATES Rockstar always finds great ways to play with licence plates in itsGTAgames. In GTA 3, the car license plate reads LC R29 in the game: The city of Vice City has some similar stuff on offer. All the cars in the world have the same license plates. The license plates read the R29 v. RAY LIOTTA GTA: Vice City and a fully voiced protagonist were big and it was a big deal for the actor who liked Ray Liotta playing that role, and that made it even bigger. The game also pays tribute to the actor in fun ways. There are two missions in the game called No Escape and Cop Land, both of which are the names of films that Ray Liotta stars in, releasing in 1994 and 1997 respectively. ROCKSTARS LOGO Rockstars never shy of putting their stamp on the games, literally. In the video game, elondon can show a name of the Beatles or raets of the City. From clothing items worn by characters to doors of buildings to a store or billboard, Rockstar kept its logo in a whole lot of places throughout the game. DMAir GTA: Vice City has egg-studded in tribute to the earlier years of Rockstar, of course. There is also an airline in the game called DMAir (you should spot its logos on planes if you’re right) and that is a no-nonsense callback to Rockstar after it was Rockstar. During his previous years, the company had a name for DMA Design, but with an odd mention, Rockstar said it would have done well, a few minutes or two earlier, and even the game was “liked in the PS2/Xbox era.” APARTMENT 3-C with no intention of buying a car. GTA: Vice Citydoesnt hide itsScarface influences (in fact, its pretty blatant about them), but it isn’t satisfied with that overly throughout the story- there are also some fun little easter eggs tucked away. One of these is found in a building in Ocean Beach, and a lot is found in the apartment. When you head into the bathroom, you’ll find blood splattered on the walls and a chainsaw on the ground, which is a reference to a scene. BEACH BALL Like all otherGTA games, Vice City has plenty of minigames to hunt down, but not all of them can be found easily. Some of them were hidden. For example, a beach ball can be hit in one of the pools on Starfish Island and begin a mini-match where you must keep hitting it and keep it air as long as possible. As soon as you’re done, there will be a counter in the game. AK-47 It might seem like focusing on a weapon and its exclusion from a game is a bit too specific, but the AK-47 isn’t inGTA; vice City is actually a notable omission. Why? Well, the rifle is useful in every three-game-tag except for City and yes, that is, the City-Town Stories. The games still have mentions of that weapon, suggesting that Rockstar planned to add it in at some point, but later dropped the idea, while testing it. GTA: MIAMI This is something many fans of this game may already know about. Originally, Rockstars’ plan was to make that game a direct sequel toGTA 3 and have it in actual Miami. This time it turned out to be the most expensive one in the country. Of course, plans changed and instead came up with the Miami-inspired Vice City theme, and decided to set the game long before GTA 3, in 1986.
