With this being in mind, I created a simple photo frame which I could sit on my desk and remind me of my most important task of the day using electronic paper and Raspberry Pi. I wanted to use e-Paper for that purpose because it’s not as weak as standard display and is not as distracting as a standard display. If you are someone who loves simple reminders of most important tasks, here’s how to build that for yourself.
What is needed for this project?
Raspberry Pi 4, Raspberry Pi 3, or Raspberry Pi Zero with power adapter. A 64-GB microSD card for Raspberry Pi is available. 7.5 Black & White Waveshare DAW A.W. 5×7-inch picture frame. A ToDoist account has Tasks in it, with Tasks in it. Black fabric paper.
How to Build a To Do Reminder Frame with E-Paper and a Raspberry Pi.
Get the Raspberry Pi set before starting. If you haven’t done that before, please read our article about the first time you have a Raspberry Pi or how you can install a slapstick Raspberry Pi (without the keyboard and the screen). For this project, we recommend a simple Raspberry Pi install.
- Install the git. Well need him to download the code from GitHub. sudo apt-get update. apt-get sudo installs git.
- Clone the house’s repository to your home directory. This will ensure we have all the code and audio files we need to run the project. cd ~/ The git clone goes to https://github.com/rydercalmdown/todo_reminder_frame.git.
- Run the make install command to install all project dependencies. This script will install low-level dependencyencies, as well as the Python libraries you need so that the project can run smoothly. cd ~/todo_reminder_frame/ make install
- Find the VCC and Ground pins on the e-paper hat and attach them to the Raspberry Pi BASE pins 4 and 6 respectively.
- Place the DIN and CLK, on the e-paper hat, and connect them to the Raspberry Pi Pi BOARD, respectively.
- If using the e-paper hat, you can find the CS and DC & PC connectors on the Raspberry python.
- Locate the RST and BUSY hats, connect them to Raspberry Pi YES, both 11 and 18.
- Using the included ribbon cable, connect your e-paper display hat to your e-paper display, if it’s not already connected.
- Open raspi-config and follow the menu. sudo raspi-config > 3 – Interface Options – Defaults – The default : > 4 – SPI. > Enable &tueshri: Enable &tueshri. > Finish, >.
- Restart the Raspberry Pi. sudo reboot
- If you have not already created a ToDoist account, add to-dos.
- Visit your ToDoist integration settings and copy the API token at the bottom of this page.
- Export your token into your environment. nano ~/.bash_profile # Add the following line to the file’s end. Export TODOIST_PERSONALTOKEN=your_copyd token. # Ctrl, then Y, then enter and save.
- Start building an environment and building a test. There are some logs that show that the display is scanning tasks. source ~/.bash_profile cd ~/todo_reminder_frame make run INFO:root:Diction, start and start display. INFO:root:Start the 7.5 inch E-Paper Module. INFO:root:Running display. INFO:root:Check for updates. INFO:root:The new one-to-one task! INFO:root:Last task has changed. INFO:root:Updating display with latest task. INFO:root:Transfering images with buffer. INFO:root:Write paper-to-print images.
- Check your display is changing. It should continue to update with your most urgent task. If everything is happening, your logs do not look normal, you could have a pin that breaks loose. You can also check out the manufacturing guide.
- Remove the back from the 5×7 photograph frame and take up the digital e-paper display.
- Roll in the e-paper display with a piece of black construction paper over the top, so that you could seal the edges. Photo 1 of 2. : 2 images, 2 and 2.
- Close the frame’s back, and let the ribbon cable wrap around. The image is 2 in 1:35. 2 image in 2:40
- Toss the hat and the Pi with the frame or toy them into place behind the frame.
- Run the application. You will regularly have the most priority on the task and at the soonest deadline of the ToDoList application. make run I have 3 images from the first picture. Image 2 of 3rd. Image 3 out of 3
