The series is due to be produced by Reese Witherspoon and is inspired by the New York Times no. 1 bestseller Laura Dave. Garner will replace Roberts, who was forced to retire from the series due to a scheduling problem. This is Garner’s second AppleTV+ limited-series, and she is also taking over an adaptation of Amy Silverstein’s memoir My Glory Was I Had Such Friends. The Last Thing That Told Me is produced by Laura Dave and co-produced by Oscar-winning screenwriter Josh Singer. The story follows a woman who became aware of her father’s mysterious disappearance while learning more about her friends. In a follow-up story on Instagram shortly after the news was confirmed, Garner said she could not be more excited to play that role. I could only be more grateful, said Garner, before thanking the reese witherspoon and tagging a number of writers and creators behind the series.
