The scene where Lamar and Franklin had served the toast is an early-game cutscene in GTA 5 which became meme material when the PC version of the game went out of mainstream production thanks to the new model of Lamar and Franklin – and the modification of the popular character and the change of the name of Franklin. The cutscene was not only memed and modded to death, but it has also been revived in live action by the original voice actors of Franklin and Lamar, Shawn Fonteno and Slink Johnson. While that sounds like the absolute height of the meme, Rockstar seems to appreciate the new GTA Online expansion, The Contract. The contract will see Franklin and Lamar return eight years after the original games’ end. In addition, the missions referred to as “Short Trips” let you play either of these two games in a semi-epilogue manner. In one short trip, “Fire It Up”, Lamar and Franklin return to Lamar’s new house where Lamar once again asks the eternal question: “What’s the place? ” Franklin reacts the same way as he did at GTA 5 saying that he doesn’t want Lamar to come in, but this time it’s because of his kids’ housemates. Instead of saying a little more about Franklin’s “yee-yee ass”, he claims his kids love him more, his kids need harmony in his household and his jacuzzi are a… they know what?
