You can take a look at the full interview below with Kazumi Fujita. In it, the meaning of Mercer of 2DX is discussed, as it is the 25th anniversary of the new franchise. (Photo: Koei Tecmo). Do you think that Monster Rancher is appealing to people? Kazumi Fujita: I think the most popular thing of all is that people can get unique monsters from a wide variety of different songs, so that you can raise those monsters and fight them with them. Songs that take you all the time, songs that you listen to, and songs that you are interested in lately are all used to build different monsters. The excitement and anticipation of a monster are all real fun. Please try it yourself. Even more, one will always know you’d like to take a monster that you love to do, but you will get it to be ready to challenge yourself by the hand, or taking it into a tournament. To avoid the question, what is it about the Monster Rancher series that appeals to you specifically? The concept of a mountain of ayurveda as well as the empathy you build from this larkish character, created a mutual friendship between breeders from around the world that transcends cultural and age barriers. I think the passion in which the player plays this game changes the way things evolve and play out, as well as the way people know the way you want to see the world and see how you love their monster, ultimately influence their characteristics are both great facets of the series. The Monster Rancher series is in good shape now. Why do you feel the time is right for it to come back? I felt that this would be the right time, as the monster Rancher series will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2022, and we also got much feedback from fans asking us to bring the series back to life. We received lots of comments like: “I want to play Monster Rancher again, even one more time!” Why also takes it a long break for the franchise? It’s the first console release in the West for a long time. In the 90s, we developed a treatment system for using CDs to obtain the right amount of monsters. In fact, we had a lot of time to think of the way to bring this into the series, but we were unable to find out what we were looking for. Nevertheless, we wanted to give the players who want to return to the series the chance of playing the game back. From all the enthusiasm I received from our fans, I think I’m starting to see how we could see the series. If we released a new Monster Rancher game this year, would you think it would be nice if it were to see the first one in that game? We’ve learned a lot of the history of this revival, and have made some discoveries along the way, too. The team and I’ve put in much effort as it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Monster Rancher series. There’s a way to summon monsters via CD, but do you think that something has been lost in the transition? There was obviously the origin of that fact. With a physical act still not present in this version, we developed a new system that would allow the current generation of players to remain creative. Without having to use physical CDs, they still could use them. The original database of 600,000 songs allows people to choose the song they like, which, I think is so much more enjoyable it is for that time around. Do you own a favorite monster from Monster Rancher, or, if so, which one do you think is it? I definitely love Suezo and Mocchi! However, when I use Golem in battles, I always win. It’s real fun to run into that monster and win. What would a successful release of Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX look like — for you, only that it’s very good or that something is more? I’m basing the success of this title on different points. How will games created in the 90s be used for example to become used to players at a level higher than social media? It is not all that exciting, nor is the game as exciting as the first one to go into games. I want to see if this becomes the next big thing after it releases. After the Japanese release of two Japanese houses of Monster Farm and Monster Farm, many of the younger players played both of these titles. The game is going to be popular as it has a wide range of players. Anything else you want to share with our readers over the above answer, given the 25th anniversary of the series. In 2022 we will hold a tournament in which players can participate from around the world. I hope everyone can enter the tournament using their favourite monster they worked hard to raise. With the 25th anniversary, the Monster Rancher series will start to look really cool. Please look forward to it!
