The towers will be built along the highway for the area of Prince Rupert and Prince George, also known as the “The Tears Road”. This name is called out of the hundreds of Indigenous women and girls who went missing or were found murdered while on the 720-kilometer route. These new towers will enable the fastest deployment of a 22,000-kilometer distance to the road and provide a seamless wireless infrastructure. The company is also offering a plan to offer three points of service along the route at the Boulder Creek, Basalt Creek and Sanderson Point. There is world for me and our women to connect with others and keep in touch, especially on this highway, whatever can happen at any moment, said Gladys Radek, an activist who reacted against the Missing Indigenous Women and Girls, in a statement. This tower and project will give us a lifeline to all who travel along Highway 16 regularly, and to ensure our safety and security, that’ll help us prevent future tragedies. This project is part of a big wireless expansion project. Seven towers will be built along the 14th route. The project was expected to be completed in October of this year, but it was pushed to 2022 because of the shortage of equipment and steel in all areas of the world. Image courtesy of ShutterStock.
