Yesterday, GSC Game World and the blockchain-based gaming service DMarket announced a partnership that would bring NFTs to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Players are able to bid unique items in auctions and have the chance to become an NPC via photogrammetry in the game. After a day of backlash, the games official Twitter released a statement that expresses its desire to support this project. An initial statement apologized for any miscommunications about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Metaverse project, but noted that GSC Game World was eager to do NFT with the project. The tweet was deleted after about 30 minutes, as it received a lot of negative feedback from Twitter users. After half an hour, a long statement from the Twitter account made that rescheduled the entire project. In order to follow the reviews we received, we decided to cancel the NFT-related tweet. DMarket has confirmed the cancellation of Digital Trends via email. pic.twitter.com/mffnmpiQiw OFFICIAL (@thegame) December 16, 2021; – STORE the game. The original statement raised questions of some sort, and it seemed to contradict some information about the project. In that deleted statement, the Global Strategy Committee noted that all the funds raised through potential NFT sales would go towards improving the long-awaited game, to make it even better. A statement from DMarket showed that an 80% of earnings would go to charity, as part of a long-term social responsibility program. Digital Trends reached out to DMarket for an offer to announce the cancellation of the package and will update this story when we receive a response.
