In our review of the SN850, we presented them 4.5 out of 5 and an editor’s choice award. The WD Black SN850 NVMe SSD is one of the best commercial NVMe SSDs you can buy now, with impressive performance, especially on a written basis. The SN850 failed to make the best of our PCIe 4.0 SSD. There are dozens of PCIe 4.0 nVMe SSDs that have been replaced by new PHIson-Controllers. However, the SN850 is a lot of responsive and a little slower than the Samsung 980 Pro. The SN850 promises sequential read speeds up to 7,000 megabytes per second, and up to 650 MB/s. With CrystalDiskMark 6, the read speeds didn’t quite reach those promises. That’s about six 300 ml/s, but when we tested 5 221 ml/s, the speed of reading was much more significant. We also seen excellent performance on the SN850 in our large format write test. There are now faster NVMe drives, but this drives are still excellent and costless. It is highly worth the SN850. [Today deal: 1TB WD Black SN850 for $145 with checkout code SSAZA525 at Newegg.]
