Sony today said that after the launch, PlayStation 5 will finally get color swaps for its giant plastic bags. In total, there are five new variants and Dual-Sense controllers to match, ready to go and launch in February 2022. They still need the same limited edition console. There are four new colors: Nova Pink, Starlight Blue and Galactic Purple. They join Cosmic Red and Midnight Black, which were previously released dualSense options. Sony writes in a post that each of the matching plates is easy to use and simply clicks onto the other table where the old white ones were. Only black and red will be available at first, followed by the rest of the colours later in 2022. One big figure of information that is not clear at all? The cost! A link to the PlayStation Store page shows that the new PS5 has 404 digits. Update 12/13/21, ten:10 o’clock. The price is 5 yen – pro piece. These new colors come after Sony became legal in a lawsuit against Dbrand earlier this year, and since it feared the console manufacturer would sue it. The patent has finally been granted by Sony for its own proprietary brand of convertible PS5 Cover plates. For its part, Dbrand continues selling Darkplate as a solution for the PS5, which can cut the consoles profile and make it all-black for 70 dollars. There still are obviously a plethora of other third-party options. Sony is also facing competition if it comes to DualSense colors. Scuf recently announced its line of elite PS5 controllers, which are very well designed, even though they don’t seem to be facing production pressure, for as much as $260 per pack. Sony’s official custom plates won’t make your PS5 any smaller, but they add some zing to the original white-only console.
