Detailed on its website, Ubisoft said it has merely greenlit this remake of Splinter Cell at the moment and is looking at a plan for the project. The game will be developed in tandem with Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine, which is the same thing that Avatar is creating in the development of Pandora. As such, Ubisoft said that this remake of Splinter Cell will “display new-generation visuals and gameplay, and the dynamic lighting and shadows that the series is known for are well known for.” The fourth Echelon are up in the middle…A slatan-inspired version of Splinter Cell will be at @UbisoftToronto. In explaining more the reason Ubisoft chose to remake Splinter Cell instead of just remaster it, the game’s producer Matt West explained that the title needs to be updated for modern platforms. The original Splinter Cell has a great deal of amazing and revolutionary technology at the time it came out, 19 years ago. The gaming public has a lot of fun now. So, I think it shouldn’t be a remake, West said. “Although we’re still in the earliest stages of development, what we have tried is to ensure that the spirit of the early games is still intact in all the ways that gave the early Splinter Cell its identity. By constructing that from the beginning, we’ll update it visually, and add some of the design elements to meet the player’s comfort and expectations. We will keep this linear like the original games, not make it open world.” At the moment, Ubisoft hasn’t said anything about the date to the start of Splinter Cell, yet it hasn’t confirmed which platforms it’s going to be coming. The game will likely come to PlayStation 5, Xbox X, and PC within the next few years. How about finally bringing back Splinter Cell in the form of a new remake?
