ABOUT: Memorandum: Mason Thames talks Horror Adaptation The Black Phone. The Black Phone is directed by Scott Derrickson from a film he co-wrote with long-time collaborator C. Robert Cargill. It is about the award-winning short story of Joe Hill in the New York Times bestseller 20th Century Ghosts. The documentary tells the story of a shy, but clever boy, Finney Shaw, who is a smug boy and locked into a soundproof basement by a sadistic killer, is read as a gin, the official chapter. When the phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers he’s able to hear the voices of the original victims. And they are now committed to making sure that what happened to them is not happening to Finney. The film is headed by Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke, along with young actors Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw. The other three of them are James Ransone, Jeremy Davies, Brady Hepner, Jacob Moran and Jordan Isaiah White. It is reunited with Derrickson and Cargill, all working together on 2012’s Sinister.
