Geoff Keighley tweeted on Monday that The Game Awards raked in over a million livestreams globally, the highest broadcast audience in that seven year history. That is two million livestreams since last year’s pandemic that caused the creation of an all-virtual show by L.A., London and Tokyo. In addition to the rich tidal viewership, Keighley also used record-breaking statistics for this year show, saying that there were 1,6 million tweets over The Game Awards (hashtagged or not), 23,2 million screentons vote and a combined 175 million hours of livestream watched on YouTube. That figure may be paid to live performances by Sting and Imagine Dragons; exclusive reveals such as Sonic Frontiers, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 film, and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League; and surprise prizes such as It Takes Two winning Game of the Year. We’re thrilled to share that #TheGameAwards delivered a record 85 million livestreams in 2021.Plus: Record number of Tweets about the show (1.6M) Record number of viewer votes (3.2M) Highest Watch Time to date on YouTube (1.75M hours) pic.twitter.com/MA2UsjYFM3 and video.
