(Image-note: Netflix) Wondering what the monoliths are in The Witcher? If you were here, you could watch The Witcher on Netflix, or just finish the second season of that show. Despite being short-sighted in the first season, these obelisks got a lot more screentime during the second season. Back at the beginning of the first season, Ciri’s scream inadvertently took down a monolith in Cintra. And because of the chasm of the structure collapses she can escape Cahir’s clutches. The significance of it becomes clearer in season two. You should take care of spoilers below if you haven’t finished watching. Here’s what I know about The Witcher monoliths.

The Witchers monoliths are what they must know in Season 2.

The monoliths are not included in The Witcher books, but they appear briefly in the games even though their original meaning would be repurposed for the show. It’s not known where the monoliths came from, or what created them. They appeared at the beginning of the show for one thousand years in the Continent after the Conjunction of the Spheres. A World was, according to the preconception, the impact of the Conjunction when the different realms collided and a monsters, elves and humans must learn to share their allies for the first time. In episode 4, Geralt discovers that his friends, Eskel and the Leshy who killed him, have stellacite, a material only found in monoliths. He is trying to find you for help. He’s already studying the Continent’s history. Then Geralt and Istredd both travel to the site of the toppled monolith in Cintrayep, that is the one that led to the collapse of Ciri in Season 1, where they snatched the ground. On closer inspection, both think that ancient monoliths must be conduits or gateways to those other worlds, and this is the way the deadly attack on Eskel arrived. During this hearing, Ciri calls out in distress to Geralt from Kaer Morhen; as he as Istredd hear her from the site of the Cintra monolith, and one can unleash a new monster from another plane. A monolith comes into play in the end of the second episode of Season 3 when Voleth Meir possesses Ciri’s body. She breaks the medallion tree to reveal a tiny monolith on her wall. From the moment they scream the construct, Voleth Meir summons basilisks to kill him with the platform she opens to a different realm. I doubt we’ll get acquainted with the ancient monoliths in the third season, with perhaps the most beautiful people or things that spawned them. For now, we will just need to be taught that whatever reason they live, it isn’t very good for all inhabitants of the continent.
