Last week, the electronics retailer Micro Center began offering a huge discount on AMD’s Ryzen 5800X 8-core chip, by cutting the initial price down from $449 to $299. The $150 discount cut the $800X to $5600x from AMD’s Ryzen, a less powerful processor with only six cores. That resulted from the purchase being extremely successful, making the product temporarily unavailable in Microcenter. This chip was sold out for microcenter. This is a new town. Last week, Intel began selling its new Core processors Alder Lake 12th Generation, and our reviews show new processors have a higher chance of being beat to Ryzen. For AMD, the major threat is the Intel Core i5-12600K processor, a $319 product that can improve the Ryzen 5800X on certain benchmarks for gaming and application processing. In addition, the new Alder Lake chips are compatible with DDR5 RAM and PCIe Gen 5, but early-adopters will need to pay a high price for the next-generation memory. AMDs own processors, on the other hand, are of an age and only compatible with DDR4. Considering AMD’s eagerness for better performance, the company is preparing for the launch of a new CPU, Ryzen Zen 3, next year. The upcoming chip uses an AM4 motherboard socket, but it has a higher memory cache. In 2022, AMD plans to unveil the Zen-4 architecture for a new generation of Ryzen processors that support DDR5 and PCIe Gen 5 processors.
