This is the first time that a new announcement appears. However, it’s usually a new trailer for Skald, and so it’s clear the one that gets its intention a little shorter. This game shows its universe and characters in a classic, Commodore 64-style 8-bit aesthetic, and the characters move in a grid-based realm rather than in a seamless one. The trailer is fully voiced as well, which distracts from the typical way the rest of the trailer is. Perhaps the voiceover would’ve fit better if it were crushed like many old-school ones.
Those extra details will come.
According to the Steam page,Skaldsees players exploring a dark fantasy world full of tragic heroes, violent deaths and LOVEcraftian horror. As they do, they will have a cloak story with rich exploration and practical, tactical, turn-based combat that will seem familiar, but, of course, in the hands of RPG fans, old and new alike. Classic RPG fans will probably feel like staying at home withSkald, but a few still enjoy it with skepticism. Fortunately, a free prologue chapter released back in June will continue on Steam. It’s not a bad game for players as it is for 2022.
