The sequel to the Warhammer 4:40, 2011 was planned for Space Marine with a new developer and a new lead actor. Warhammer strategy fans have Total War: Warhammer 3 to watch before 2022, but if you want 40K sci-fi action, there was a new announcement at The Game Awards 2021. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a sequel to the 2011 game and is currently in play for a third person. The announcement trailer has been mostly pre-rendered, but we only got some snippets of gameplay before we begin. Both shows a combination of gunplay and mowing with chainswords and hordes of enemies. To be more important, Captain Titus is likely to be returned as the main character, although he will not be played by Mark Strong this time. Instead, Clive Staten took over the role, who you probably know better from the Taken TV series and the historical drama Vikings. He’s not the only alternative either. In lieu of Relic, a world war z developer is now working this time. Relic was canceled by Sega in wake of THQ’s bankruptcy. Curiously, Sega still has the rights to publish the first Space Marine game, but only a few months ago, it has released an anniversary edition. Saber Interactive is a member of Embracer Group, the one who owns THQ Nordic, but Focus Entertainment is preparing the sequel. The official website doesn’t reveal much else about this game, and a release date isn’t yet available. We know that it is in development for PlayStation 4, X and X. Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive, given that he’s an unapologetic fan of the Warhammer series, missed a trick not casting Henry Cavill instead. As for the fantasy side, that might be more interesting than 40K. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is in development for Xbox X/S, Xbox 5, and PC.
