It is testing the changes using beta users in the Xbox Insiders program. The method nixes Microsofts old system of storing the games in locked, encrypted folders on your PC’s storage drive. Instead, the company will let users pick and choose the type of games that the Xbox Game Pass app is installed on a PC.Soon Xbox Insiders can start testing out which drive your game is installed to and select where your default folder is gone with that drive, said Jason Beaumont, developer of game experience at the Xbox games, in a video on Thursday. According to Beaumont, this new approach promises to increase the download speed for PC games by allowing one to install games on Xbox Game Pass. This is starting at $9.99 a month. In exchange for access to more than 100 PC games and a computer system. Another change that is being tested involves opening up game install files so that users can easily modify game files or move and share them. To find out whether a game is moddable, Microsoft also plans to use a special icon in the Xbox Game Pass app. According to The Verge, the company plans to bring the same changes in the games that were purchased from the Microsoft Store, opening the doors for easy access to mod and back up games, like you’d already do on Steam. We reached out to Microsoft on when that might happen, and will update the story sooner.
