Microsoft finally updates the Xbox and Microsoft Store apps on Windows, so you can specify a folder to install your games. As per The Verge, the move will be available soon for anyone who install the Xbox Insider Hub app and is expected to get the Xbox Insider Hub app in beta before the release of Halo Infinite on December 8th. This update allows you to choose the hard drive and folder that’s inside as a location to install your game. As for any other program on your PC, you’ll be able to access the files without any windows mark them as hidden, like this currently on the Windowsapps folder. This change removed the barriers Windows enables you to access game files, so people are banned from installing and using mods. Some games currently allow mods, but they only allow you to access a dedicated mods folder. By changing that change you’ll be able to install game maps directly into your game. It’s not clear if the update to the Xbox and Microsoft Store app fixes an ongoing problem where games won’t fully uninstall and clear up the space on the hard drive. Several users of Reddit and Resetera have reported this problem since 2019. To get direct access to your files, you can solve this problem by manually cleaning them up yourself. In a video with announcing the upcoming change, Microsoft noted that in addition to its app, games will be faster downloaded. Many gamers that subscribe to Game Pass are happy with this change because it makes it easy to manage your files as well as a lot more complicated as you often install games. Your precious C drive is a very effective way to know what’s going on.
